Good hydration will promote good healing, as will well moistured skin. Please ensure that you do your best to arrive to your appointment with well moistured / hydrated lips.
If you know you suffer with cold sores please ensure that you purchase the tablet form of Zovirax or Aciclovir either online or from your doctor and start taking these 5 days prior to your appointment and 5 days after your appointment. This will diffuse any potential breakouts.
Please avoid the sun beds for 72 hours prior to attending your appointment; this is just to avoid arriving to your appointment with burnt skin.
If you have any queries or feel your procedure is not healing as explained please telephone your specialist immediately. Do not panic that the area treated may show redness and swelling and that the colour looks dark and intense – this is all quite normal.
Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed. A 4/6 week healing time is required before any more work can be undertaken.
If showering please try and avoid the water jets hitting the treated area. Try to avoid the gym, sauna or pool throughout the healing process.
Once the area has healed completely, for approximately 4 weeks consider using a waterproof total sun block when going out in the sun to stop colour fade. Strong chemicals or Glycolic Acid/Peels of any kind may cause the pigment to lighten – always telephone and check with your specialist if in any doubt.
Use facial wipes or a gentle cleanser around the area for around 2/3 weeks. Do not pick, scratch or itch. The less you play the better they will stay. You will go through the following process: (1) Heal (2) Peel (3) Fade then the colour will return up to 50% lighter. This will vary depending on your natural Lip pigment base as to how bright a pigment retains or fades
Due to the application of our new dragons blood butter you may feel your lips do not need any additional aftercare for a few days due to the quality of our amazing new product. However a vitamin a and ointment will be provided just in case you feel the need for additional nourishment.
Please keep hydrated as this will also encourage the healing process. Be careful when brushing your teeth.
You may notice a whiteness or blanching around the area, this is quite normal and will subside within 12 hours. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping you can gently dab the area with saline/ cool boiled water and gauze, blotting gently dry to remove all moisture. With clean hands and a cotton bud apply a FINE layer of after-care ointment to the lip area as and when you feel is required. If you wish to apply makeup we suggest you purchase new products to avoid cross contamination.
After the fine scabbing has sloughed away you will see a different hue to the colour implanted. Avoid any strong food colorants for the first few days (the likes of curries). There is risk of infection. Please ensure anything that is in contact with your mouth is clean (glasses/cutlery). Use a straw for the first couple of days.
